Tapestry
Tapestry

See the curtain drifting down
Bringing shadowed embrace around
Soft darkness at end of play
Silent statue on the stage
Silent actress, moment clear
From her heart-song giving dear
From the heart each moment made
A time of magic in the day
Tapestry…Mystery….keeping silent through centuries
Folding velvet to rise again
Light upon the actress then
Light upon the secret smile
Now she feels them for a while
Finest moment, reviewers say
This will run for endless days
But in the smile Actress shows
There is a secret no none knows
Tapestry…Mystery….keeping silent through centuries
There is a secret along the hall
Where she will go, she will fall
In the hallway a tapestry
Awaits her coming desperately
No one there now, none will see
Her disappear through tapestry
None will find her, come and gone
Now she wakes to different dawn.
Tapestry…Mystery….keeping silent through centuries
Actress Missing! The papers cry
Who knows how? Who knows why?
All are searching, none will find
For she returned to her own time
Late one evening the actor who
Loved the actress with heart true
Stops in silence in the hall
Tapestry telling all
Tapestry…Mystery….keeping silent through centuries
He searches round it, he looks behind
But no way through can he find
He will depart then to face the years
Without his love, embracing years
She had oaths and kept them well
If tapestries could only tell
They could tell him bright and true
How he might somehow get through
Tapestry…Mystery….keeping silent through centuries
He dreamed of smiles, called her name
She bade him come to her again
But in the hall at break of day
The tapestry had gone away
He hears her singing every night
He smells her rose at breaking light
On tip of finger, feels her face
Each darkling night he cries a space
Tapestry…Mystery….keeping silent through centuries
