Silver

Silver
© 2005 George Reed

Pen wrought of silver, heart spun out of gold
Spirit shining in a song ever far from cold
Heart calling, tears falling, summer-swept and rare
Every moment written as if the reader there.

Story told of legend, tapestry you weave.
I only have but to hear and I must believe
Wheel turning, soul yearning just to understand
How yon spark of gentle light came to hand

And so mote of light once very far away
Draws even harden souls to come, sit and stay
Word speaking, far reaching, ever on the air
What a brilliant joy to find such a treasure there

Will tomorrow see it, jewel from afar
Capturing radiance of a distant star?
Time passing ever lasting river flows around.
Singing with magic gentle light has found

Angel’s deed woven taking world away
Leaving me to see a new one come the day
Golden glory, heart and story, lesson in the rhyme
Tale spun of silver gleaming for all time

Teacher may sit and learn before lantern light
Gaining from giving in singing in the night
Story old, tale told praising with a bow
And the elder poet may close his verses now.
