September Fields
September Fields

Those September fields…Oh..so far away…
Would I dare to go….if I thought I’d stay…
Never thought I’d feel…never thought I’d stay…
This far from fields…that live in yesterday…
Just within my sight…..pennons in the air…
Princess gliding round….roses in her hair…
Music I can hear….laughter I can feel…
Dancers drawing near…can it all be real
Steel wall fades away…All around is green
Gentles come, say…Hello, how have you been?
Artificial lighting…Suddenly is gone
Ladies are delighting…in a joyful song
Trees waving gently…in a passing breeze
Somehow evidently…Yesterday I see
Somewhere past sorrow…I have found a way
To find a Tomorrow….In someone’s yesterday
A queen stands before me welcoming here
This long distance dreamer…offering good cheer
How could I refuse it, freely given gift,
For once I don’t confuse it and my spirits lift
Hardened stone and glass so quickly have all gone
Pavise made of cloth proclaim an ancient dawn
Sunlight on a list now, champions will meet
Heralds crying names now, Princess all to greet
But one may stand so, many must need fall
But the lady bends low, kisses raising all
Silver tones behind me, voices in the wind…
Image fading slowly…and I am gone again
Damn these walls of iron, of glass and of steel
They take away the fighters on September fields
Those September fields…they are so far away…
Would I dare to go….if I thought I’d stay…
Those September fields…they are so far away…
Would I dare to go….if I thought…I…could… stay…
