My Lady Waits
A piece written in May of this year after watching Northshield’s first Crown Tournament.
My Lady Waits
For Sigfried and Bredei

Shadows of winter are now all but gone…
Color-swept springtime swiftly moves on…
We gather today, at last now to see…
Who the first Crown of Northshield will be…
Dawn breaking fresh over fog-shrouded hills…
World is silent for a battle of will…
Only one stands while fifteen are down…
Risking my world to give her this crown…
My Lady waits…for me…
The last Ones, Serene, have taken their place…
Heralds cry out…my heart can but race…
I tell the whole world that she is my light
I know they deserve her, perhaps more than I…
While my lady waits…for me..
So many, such splendor, gathered around…
I hope I can show them the jewel I found…
The first fight is over…they say I have won…
Soon yet another will have begun…
My Lady waits….for me…
She stands by the list field smiling at me…
I give her my all and pray I will see…
Pride in her eyes whether I stand or fall…
Making her queen, the joy of them all..
And lady waits….for me..
Hall has gone silent…fighting is done…
I kneel before her and whisper… we won…
My lady of ladies…shall reign royal now…
Crown of the Northlands will rest on her brow…
Now my lady reigns…with me…
