Lady of Gold
I was challenged by the Baron of Tyr Ysgithr to write a song about his queen using the words sun, lady, flame, soldier, golden, inspire. The next day I saw her moving among her troops and allies for hours, the banner of the Queen of Atenveldt flowing proudly in her wake. Countless times she stopped to talk to someone in the army, offer them refreshment, comfort the fallen, inspire those marching on. later I saw her on the hay bale that was resurrection point, greeting every single soldier making the trek back to touch it. Their faces lit up when they saw her waiting with a smile, and often units would march back out crying her name.
This is the song that came from it.
Lady of Gold

Throughout the passing day, Lady makes her way
Tending to soldiers on the plain.
In her eyes a spark to brighten any dark.
Soldiers rise singing her name.
Mariana…Mariana… Lady of Golden Sun
Mariana… Mariana… She for whom chivalry is done.
A traveler has found smiles all around
Wherever the Lady has been nigh.
With kind and gentle words, inspiration heard,
The hardest soul would yield to her and sigh…
Mariana… Mariana… Lady of Golden Sun
Mariana… Mariana… She for whom chivalry is done.
Phelan, brave and bold as mighty lords of old
Summons his fellows to the sun.
Banners flying proud beneath Estrella cloud.
For his Lady victory is won.
Mariana…Mariana… Lady of Golden Sun
Mariana… Mariana… She for whom chivalry is done.
Challenges transpire beside the roaring fire.
Words will like ancient river flow.
Some there are, its true, who can inspire you
To follow wherever they go
Mariana…Mariana… Lady of Golden Sun
Mariana… Mariana… She for whom chivalry is done.
Throughout the fading day, lady makes her way
Cherishing soldiers on the plain.
In their eyes a spark beyond any dark
Inspired, they rise to her flame
Mariana…Mariana… Lady of Golden Sun
Mariana… Mariana… She for whom chivalry is done.
