In a Dream

In a Dream
© 2005 George Reed

Yes. I know it is just weird. But I had a dream of sitting on a high place over the ocean, talking to a middle-aged sailor as he told me his tale. This was on my pad when I woke up. I can still smell the sea salt.

Waiting
By faheud

Lady waits on the shore of the sea…
Lady waiting for me…..
O lady praying a sail will soon be…
bringing me home from the sea…

You knew when I sailed out from Liverpool
On errands of young, pale and fools.
Oh you knew when I kissed you and turned away
You’d miss me for many long days.

The days and their nights came and went where you bide
Three storms tore at your smile
You waited through mornings counted in scores
Would you see me anymore?

The lady waits on the shore of the sea…
Lady waiting for me…..
O lady wanting a sail to be…
bringing me in from the sea…

The storms they caught us a fortnight away
And they brought us to Davey Jone’s Quay
Somehow I found my way upon a spar
And drifted in dreams to your heart.

Lady waits on the shore of the sea…
Lady waiting for me…..
O lady praying a sail will soon be…
bringing me home from the sea…

Waking to cries on a rail high above me
And into an officers bunk they would shove me
Seventeen days back to Liverpool quay
In my lady’s fair arms I would stay

Lady waits on the shore of the sea…
Lady waiting for me…..
O lady praying a sail will soon be…
bringing me home from the sea…

Much to my sorrow I find she had word
Of the loss of our vessel all hands lost she heard
And she cast her self down to the rocks in the sea
Forever there waiting for me.

Lady waits on the shore of the sea…
Lady waiting for me…..
O lady praying a sail will soon be…
bringing me home from the sea…
