Golden Glory
Golden Glory
© 2005 Kathryn Kibellus
Oh, soft that sunbeam,
Crimson aurora,
Reaching out with quivering hand,
Shines into valley
Golden light falling,
Story woven upon first light.
Came a child barefoot to silver pool
Reflecting the glory of sunrise,
And as golden red as that sky was,
Surely an angel had died.
So child wandered
Seeking an angel
Someone who had given up all.
Imagination
Simple child’s play
Dreaming thoughts of battle in vain.
Came a young man barefoot to grassy hill,
Bathed in the paintbrush of sunrise.
No more child who dreamed of angels
He took up the sword for his king.
Sound the battle horn!
Echoes surrounding
Swords unsheathed with shimmering sound.
Determination
Look for angels
Burning swords raised to greet new day.
Came a man in full armor to list field.
Mail gleaming in brilliant sunrise.
Seeing golden crimson colors in sky.
Surely angels watched o’re him.
Charge into battle,
Wise warrior,
Go now to defend your king.
Not invincible
Nor immortal
There the man fell on battlefield.
Came a child barefoot to silver mail
Reflecting the glory of sunrise,
And as golden red as that sky was,
Surely an angel had died.
Oh, soft that sunbeam,
Crimson aurora,
Reaching out with quivering hand,
Shines into valley
Golden light falling,
Story woven upon first light.
