The Favor
Something this weekend reminded me of the summer mornings when Kenna reigned and faheud came out of retirement.
The Favor

Carry the favor of Kenna the fair.
Treat all with great courtesy.
Tell all the legends of a lady so rare,
And fight for her with chivalry.
I never intended to earn great renown,
No glory or riches for me.
I only wanted to earn Kenna’s token,
Bear it with all gallantry.
I’m only a soldier—retired, forgotten,
Who’s fought in too many wars.
Now for the need of beloved, fair Kenna.
I swore I’d fight in one more.
They tell me tomorrow will bring a great battle.
The foe stretches on like the sea.
Their shields are a wave in a rolling blue ocean.
Her token is protecting me.
I carry the favor of Kenna the fair.
I treat all with great courtesy.
I sing you the legends of a lady so rare,
And fight for her with chivalry.
Off in the distance I hear a drum beating.
Voices are calling her name.
In victory we give Kenna tomorrow,
In falling we shoulder all blame.
The cannon’s have fired, the lines are all clashing.
Banners shine bright in the sun.
Light of the morning off armor is flashing.
Someone is crying “We won!”
Trillium blooming and compass star pointing
To where Dragon will land.
Doffing our helms, we give banners to Kenna.
For Kenna, forever we stand.
I never intended to earn great renown…
